My good friend, Sandy’s sister, Wendy, had always dreamed of taking an Alaska cruise.  She’d given up on her dream because her bad knees had kept her from doing so many things that she loved.  This was truly a handicap for her.  Sandy asked me to help Wendy fulfill her dream.  I’ve worked with many special needs people in the past and was sure Wendy would be able to travel again.

There are many tools that can be used to help people travel; you just have to know where to look. Wendy and I decided a scooter would be her best option. She didn’t own a scooter and was concerned how everything would work.   Where would she get the scooter? Will it be on the ship? What about excursions?  I assured her everything would be set up for her, and not to worry.

I arranged for a scooter to be delivered to the ship on departure day, a wheelchair to transport her to her stateroom, where the scooter would be charged and waiting, and excursions from the ship she could go on.  I researched similar arrangements for the land portion of the trip, and lastly, for the scooter to be picked up at her hotel the day she was flying home.

Wendy was able to take her dream vacation and she is looking to traveling more in the future now she knows accommodations can be made for her.  It was such an honor for me to be able to help Wendy!  It makes me appreciate every day what gifts I have and who I can share them with.  I’m truly blessed to be able to help people with special needs.
